Moscow urges American internet giants to open offices in Russia and threatens to block
The Russian government is demanding 13 foreign technology companies to open offices in its country. If the requirements are not met, Moscow threatens to impose restrictions and bans on the activities of these companies. The edition told in more detail Voice of America.
Roskomnadzor, the country's media regulator, issued the ban after a law came into force in July requiring social networks with a daily audience of more than 500 users to open physical offices in Russia.

Companies, among other things, must create a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website, as well as an interface for feedback with Russian users.
Companies targeted by the claim include Google, Meta (Facebook), Twitter and TikTok. All of these companies received fines this year from the Russian authorities for refusing to remove content deemed illegal.

The department notes that if these requirements are not met by the end of 2021, then the companies will expect bans and restrictions. These will relate to marketing, data collection and payment acceptance.
