San Jose residents will be able to study for free in community colleges

Residents of San Jose, California, will receive an opportunity for free training in community colleges.
Program called San jose promise promises to pay for the education of citizens from the state or city fund, reports SF Gate.
The plan will primarily focus on low-income students who want to get a higher education.
The program offers 2 free college years, including spending on books, transportation, etc., for low-income 800 students. This also includes working with schoolchildren to prepare young people for college prospects.
Formally, the financing of the program comes from the program. California College Promise Innovationwhich allocates $ 750 thousand to each of the colleges: Evergreen Valley College, West Valley College and San Jose City College.
The plan came under criticism due to the fact that the money will be allocated at the expense of taxpayers.
San Jose high school graduates can start applying for individual education grants in June 2017.
San Jose has become the second city in the United States that offers free education to its residents; the first was San Francisco, which launched a similar program in February 2017,.
