A woman with her own life saved her children during the Texas slaughter
The mother of four children died a heroic death, trying to save her children from bullets after the gunner opened fire on a Baptist church in Texas on Sunday morning.
Joanna Ward pushed her daughter, 9-year-old Rihanna Grazu, to the ground and covered her three children with bullets from the shooter.
Her two children, Rihanna and Ryland Ward, survived. Joanne could not save her two children. 5-year-old son Brooke died in church, and 7-year-old Emily Garza died in hospital.
Ryland Ward received four gunshot wounds and underwent several operations.
Isabel Sanchez, who met Joanne on Facebook, told The Wall Street Journal that her mother loved her children "more than life."
Father Chris Ward was not in the service that day, but slept off after a night shift at home. He was awakened by a brother with shocking news. Two men found the body of Joanna and Brooke at the scene, reports The Post.
