A new spokeswoman for Braunfels County Independent School confirmed that Kelly graduated from high school in New Braunfels in 2009, but refused to provide additional information about him.

“This senseless act of violence is something that is difficult to comprehend and has certainly shocked our community,” spokeswoman Rebecca Villarreal said in a statement.

Nina Rose Nava, who went to school with a shooter, wrote in Facebook: “I'm in complete shock. I deleted it in Facebookbecause I can not stand it. He always said that people who believe in God are stupid, and he tried to preach atheism to everyone. ”

Federal officials said they did not find any obvious connection with an organized terrorist group. Abbott said it was unclear whether Kelly had any relatives in the church when he opened fire.

According to a Texas public security spokesman Freeman Martin, the suspect was found dead in a car. Martin noted that the police had not yet determined whether the man died as a result of a shot at himself or was shot by local residents.
