Doctors are concerned about the health of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and have advised her to remain under medical supervision, Buckingham Palace said. Immediate family members have already arrived or are on their way. Writes about it CNBC.

Immediate family members have been informed and are currently on their way to Balmoral Castle, the Queen's royal residence in Scotland.

"After further examination this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned about Her Majesty's health and have advised her to remain under medical supervision," Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

They clarified that the 96-year-old queen still feels comfortable and is in Balmoral.

Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Balmoral.

The Queen's other three children, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as her grandson Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, also arrived.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are on their way.

The longest living monarch in the world

The Queen is said to have been suffering from declining health over the past few months, with doctors citing ongoing "episodic mobility problems".

She is currently the longest-reigning and oldest monarch in British history, as well as the longest-reigning and oldest head of state in the world.

She spent a night in the hospital last October and has since been forced to cut back on her public activities.

The Queen recently broke with tradition and appointed her 15th Prime Minister from Balmoral instead of going to Buckingham Palace as is usually the case. She was forced to cancel a scheduled virtual meeting with senior ministers after doctors advised her to rest.

New British Prime Minister Liz Truss, who met with the Queen, said her thoughts are with her and her family.

"My thoughts and those of people across the United Kingdom at this time are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family," she said.

Keir Starmer, leader of Britain's opposition Labor Party, said he was deeply troubled by the news.

“Together with the rest of the country, I am deeply concerned about the news from Buckingham Palace,” the statement said.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was "deeply concerned" and Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford sent his best wishes on behalf of the people of Wales.

Elizabeth has been Queen of Great Britain and more than a dozen other countries since 1952. This year she celebrated her 70th birthday on the throne.
