A student mistook someone else's car for an Uber - she was found dead the next day
A student at the University of South Carolina, Samantha Josephson, was found dead after she got into the car, mistaking her for Uber.
Relatives, friends and acquaintances gathered in New Jersey, where she grew up to spend her last journey, writes CNN.
21-year-old Samantha phoned Uber around 2 at midnight on Friday, 29 March, in Columbia, South Carolina. The last time she was seen was when she got into a black car, Colombian police chief Holbrook said.
After 14 hours after she got into the car, the hunters found her body in the field, about 90 miles from the city. South Carolina police noted that there were many stab wounds on her body.
Police issued an arrest warrant for suspect Nathaniel David Rowland. CCTV recorded the moment when she stood on the sidewalk near the bar. Then she took a few steps to the black car, which approached the parking lot, opened the door and got into it.
Holbrook said that Josephson and her roommates split up that night. They began to worry about the girl the next morning, when she did not return home. They called the police and reported her missing.
On Saturday morning, March 30, police arrested Rowland's 24-year-old. The police noticed that he was driving the same car that the surveillance cameras had recorded. In the cabin and the trunk of the car followed by found a drop of blood Samantha, as well as her phone. In addition, a container with liquid bleach, antibacterial wipes and window cleaner was found.
Rowland is charged with murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of Josephson.
Recall that earlier Uber driver 48-year-old Jason Dalton confessed in six murders committed in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in February 2016, as well as attempted murder and crimes committed with the use of firearms.
