In the United States began the arrests of immigrants who are protected by the Obama program

A young man who is under the protection of a special Obama administration program was detained in Seattle this week. DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). This program operates in the country since 2012, and allows illegal immigrants who came to the US before 16 years to get a work permit. Those who have a diploma of graduation from school and have no criminal record can count on protection from deportation. Currently, about 750 thousand people have benefited from the DACA program.

Journalists nytimes.com published a material telling the story of the arrest of a young man in Seattle. Immigration officers raided the home of the Mexican Medina family to arrest and deport the head of the family. The agents showed the relevant document authorizing deportation. The son of the detainee, 23-year-old Daniel Ramirez, also came under suspicion. According to the publication, he showed the employees his identification card and documents confirming participation in the DACA program. However, this did not stop the officers from arresting the young man.

“This is a clear violation of his rights! “I, as a public attorney, decided to help the family, and we have already filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Seattle,” said lawyer Mark Rosenbaum.

It later became known that the spokesman for immigration and customs control made an official statement. According to him, Daniel Ramirez is a member of the gang, and therefore was arrested. However, the young man’s lawyer considers these statements to be fictitious and suggests that pressure was put on Ramírez. Now arrested Daniel Ramirez is waiting for a court decision.

Recall that earlier the US Immigration and Customs Police (ICE) conducted raids to detain illegal immigrants across the country. ICE officers have in total arrested more than 680 individuals in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, San Antonio and New York. About 75% of them were previously convicted for committing various crimes, including murder, rape, sale of drugs and weapons.
