In addition to Pagurtiz, law enforcement officers detained another person, but it is not reported yet how he relates to the crime. According to the governor, the second detainee "may have useful information for the investigation."

Students say that the fire alarm, after which they began to leave the school building.
Tyler Turner told USA Today that the shooter himself gave the fire alarm. According to Turner, several of his friends ran past the shooter, who looked suspicious.
“He pulled the fire alarm so we all went outside and then we heard three shots,” Turner said.
Student Leila Butler says she did not hear the shots, but only the sound of the alarm, due to which the evacuation began.
“We are all truly devastated, this is a huge tragedy that could have happened in our small town. Combined with Hurricane Harvey that happened at the beginning of the school year, it’s just too much,” she said.
On the incident reacted President Donald Trump.
“My administration will do everything to protect our students, keep our schools safe, and keep guns away from those who could harm themselves and others. May God heal the wounded,” the president said at the White House.
