Chemical castration of pedophiles entered into force in Kazakhstan

Legislative amendments providing for compulsory treatment in the form of chemical castration for pedophiles come into force in Kazakhstan, the correspondent reports RIA News.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev in April 2016 of the year signed a large package of amendments to legislation that were aimed at protecting the rights of the child. Part of the rules, including chemical castration for pedophiles, comes into effect on January 1, 2018.
The General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan reported that those who committed violent acts against minors and minors would not be given conditional sentences under any circumstances, an amnesty would not be applied, and the punishment would be replaced with a softer, conditional early release. procedural agreements with them.
“From January 1, 2018, chemical castration will be used, that is, by a court decision, the convicted person will be forced to take drugs that reduce sexual desire,” it was reported on the website of the main supervisory agency.
This provision may apply to persons older than 18 who committed a criminal offense against the sexual integrity of minors.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic has developed rules for the use of chemical castration, which also come into force from the beginning of 2018. The order of the head of the department notes that “the use of compulsory medical measures in the form of chemical castration is carried out on the basis of a court decision in order to prevent a state of decompensation in persons suffering from a disorder of sexual preference.”
