Gynecologist at the University of California for years has harassed female students

Many lawsuits have been filed against the gynecologist of the University of Southern California (USC), claiming that “for decades” he has sexually harassed female students.

It is alleged that George Tyndall inserted a whole fist without gloves into the woman, making "vulgar and degrading" statements about her genitals, and also described numerous other cases of "unwanted sexual touches."

During one of the examinations, Tyndall raped a first-year student while the nurse waited outside. He later claimed that student Lucy Chi herself allowed him to continue - “as if the violation of the protocol and the inspection standards were caused by Chi,” according to court documents.

As a result, Chi filed a lawsuit in the US District Court against the University of Southern California, Board of Trustees, and Tyndall. Five other girls filed civil lawsuits with the Los Angeles County High Court.

Lawyers for a human rights firm Hagens berman they plan to represent Chi and the “supposed group of hundreds, if not thousands, of female students” who underwent a medical examination at Tyndall and were allegedly forced to endure his “eerie behavior”.

In their lawsuit, they accuse USC of concealing the doctor’s debauchery “for decades”, for “deliberately directing female students to the examination room”.

“In fact, USC nurses, accompanying staff and other staff members were regularly present at the examiners, watched for inappropriate sexual behavior, and did not take any steps to stop him,” the lawsuit said.

Chi alleges that Tyndall improperly performed an examination at the USC Student Health Center in 2012. The gynecologist "pierced her with his fingers" and "told her that he wanted to see if the speculum fit," the lawsuit says. “He then allegedly performed a rough inspection with his bare hands.”

During the inspection, Tyndall “squeezed” Chi’s chest and stroked it in an “atypical way,” the lawsuit says, arguing that Chi felt “violence and embarrassment.”

Other lawsuits filed Monday against USC and Tyndall contain similar allegations from five former female students. Four women filed a class action suit, and the fifth reportedly filed a separate lawsuit.

The group is represented by Orange County attorney John Manley, who last week entered into a $ 500 million compensation agreement for Larry Nassar of Michigan State University.

“This lawsuit is aimed at protecting the rights of four young women subjected to sexual abuse, harassment and harassment at the hands of a consistent sexual predator,” the lawsuit said. “Visiting USC, the plaintiffs were forced to repeatedly seek medical help from Tyndall because he was the only full-time gynecologist at the USC clinic.”

According to a group of women, Tyndall “used this position of trust and authority for sexual abuse in several cases, participating in acts that include, but are not limited to: forcing plaintiffs to bare, probing breasts, penetrating the vagina to satisfy their own sexual desires” .

In each case, lawyers plan to argue that the two-year period of limitation of cases does not apply to Tyndall, because his alleged victims did not suspect that they were being raped.

In response, the USC sent the publication The Post a statement saying: “We know about the trials. We focus on ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and providing support to the victims. ”

USC Vice Rector Michael Biske published the letter, apologizing to Tyndall's patients, as well as defending senior management.

“I saw media reports claiming that university management had been aware of Dr. Tyndall’s bad behavior for a long time and that we covered it for the sake of the USC brand. This is absolutely wrong, ”Bisk explained, calling this statement“ unthinkable. ”

Tyndall refused to admit any wrongdoing, stating that his examinations were correct and “extremely thorough.”
