USA celebrates Flag Day - a day of respect for the country

Today in America is the usual working day, which is not, as they used to say, the “red day of the calendar.” Many people do not even know that 14 June is the day of the American flag. Well, the flag, and the flag, what to talk about it? A symbol, nothing more ...

At one time, a large group of American congressmen voted against the bill banning the burning of the national flag. In my opinion, “people's choices” publicly signed not only in stunning moral deafness, but also in the dense ignorance.

Of course, it would be highly naive to expect from politicians to be familiar with science, which is called the clever word “vexillology” and is engaged in the study of the history of flags, but without special knowledge, at any, the most miserable level of development, a reasonable person cannot to understand that the flag is not just a painted rag and not even just a symbol.

The national flag is the history of the people, the country, death, triumph, suffering, victories and defeats. Burning a flag is not the destruction of a piece of matter and is not a “protest against politics”, but an outrage against people’s memory. And a scoundrel tearing a flag is no different from a scoundrel hitting an obelisk in a cemetery with a sledgehammer. And, by the way, from the cattle that defiantly refuse to stand during the playing of the anthem...

Moral stupidity, the sister of cynicism, very often walks shoulder to shoulder with the foolishness of liberals who defend supposedly “democratic values.” Just look at their argument that the ban on burning a flag violates freedom of speech. Right! And it also really stifles freedom that you can’t shit on the street or copulate on public transport. But, probably, soon it will be possible - this is coming...

In Russian there is a wonderful word - “shame”. The dead, as is known, do not have “shame”: soldiers who died under “stars and stripes”; Betsy Ross, according to a beautiful legend, sewed the first American flag; Robert Peary, who stormed the North Pole and wore a flag for fifteen years under a shirt wrapped around his body to hoist him in 1906 on the 90 parallel ...

I congratulate everyone on Flag Day - a day of respect for the country, for its past, present and future. To show this respect it is not at all necessary to think that you are a patriot, it is enough just to be a decent person.

Franklin Lane, speaking on June 14 of 1914, said these words on behalf of the flag: “I am what you made me. I swing in front of your eyes like a bright gleam of light, I am a symbol of you. ”
