New York killer sister accused parents of child death

The elder sister accused of killing the babysitter Yoslin Ortega stated in court that the parents of the dead kids Marina and Kevin Krim are responsible for the death of the children, because they did not notice that there was something wrong with their nanny.

She believes that parents had to give Ortega some time off from work, and this would prevent a catastrophe, writes The New York Post.

“Why did parents not understand and not release her from work, did they see what was happening?”, Miladis Garcia asked defiantly, answering the question of the prosecutor about why she didn’t do anything after an alarming telephone conversation with 25’s sister in October 2012, took place a few hours before the brutal murder.

The father of the dead children, Kevin Krim, who was present in the courtroom, heard these accusations, closed his eyes and bowed his head.

Garcia had previously told the jury that somewhere 5 hours before the murder, she spoke to her sister, and she seemed to her "very, very angry."

“So the Creams should have seen her problems and given her time off, is that what you're trying to say?” the assistant district attorney said.

“Yes, because they were the ones who saw her all the time. Give her a break, after seeing that she has lost weight, say “Yosi, you don’t look like yourself.” Even a week off,” Garcia said.

55-year-old Ortega worked in the Krim family part-time. In 2012, she killed an 6-year-old son and a couple's 2-year-old daughter with a kitchen knife.

According to the killer's sister, she treated the babies as if they were their own children.

“She adored them. She said, 'I have four kids now,'" Garcia said, quoting his sister's words about the Crims' three children and her son.

Garcia also said that for several weeks before the murder, her sister constantly referred to the “black man” who wanted to “divide families”.

Ortega first mentioned the “black man” who did not allow her to leave the house, several years before the murder, in 2008. Sister suggests that these hallucinations began after the suicide of a family friend.

A nanny's friend, Raquel Perez, also spoke in court and said that several weeks before the murder, she had had bouts of hysteria and aggression against food, which she cruelly stabbed with a knife.

After one of the attacks of hysteria, a friend prepared dinner for Ortega, and she simply cut the contents of the plate with sharp movements of the knife and fork.

According to Ortega herself, “the devil has pushed” to the murder of her children, lawyers are trying to prove that the woman is suffering from a mental disorder.

If she is not considered insane, she faces life imprisonment. If she escapes punishment because of insanity, she will spend the rest of her life in a psychiatric clinic.
