The highest and fastest roller coaster in the US has closed: a visitor discovered a frightening malfunction

Carowinds Fury 325, the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in North America, is temporarily closed. The visitor noticed a terrible defect in the support post, reports FoxNews.

A visitor to an amusement park in North Carolina noticed a crack in a roller coaster support post while people were riding.

Jeremy Wagner posted on Facebook on June 30 that he found a crack in the Fury 325 roller coaster at Carowinds amusement park and notified officials, who temporarily closed the ride.

A spokesperson for Carowinds, who is based out of Charlotte, said the park's maintenance team is inspecting the ride while it's closed.

“Carowinds closed Fury 325 after park staff learned of a crack in the top of the steel support leg,” a spokesperson said in a statement. — The park's maintenance team is conducting a thorough inspection and the attraction will remain closed until repairs are completed. Safety is our top priority and we appreciate our valued guests' patience and understanding during this process. As part of our comprehensive safety protocols, all rides, including Fury 325, undergo daily inspections to ensure proper function and structural integrity.”

According to the amusement park's website, Fury 325 is "North America's tallest, fastest, longest ride." The roller coaster reaches speeds of up to 152 km per hour and has a maximum height of 99 m, followed by a "sharp 81-degree drop".

No one was hurt as a result of the defect.
