During an interview with CNN, Mikhail Saakashvili said that President Trump has reason to talk about an attempt by the Ukrainian government in 2016 to reduce his chances of winning the presidential election.
“President Trump, for example, said something about Ukraine. We in Ukraine appreciate the support of the people of Ukraine from the United States. We are at war with the Russians. The world should give the Ukrainians credit for their heroic resistance, but then President Trump was right. There are dirty games started by some Ukrainian oligarchic circles,” Saakashvili said, but was cut off by the presenter’s next question.
Saakashvili has already touched on Trump's reproaches to Ukraine. On July 26, the ex-president of Georgia stated the following in his Twitter:
