Russians named the most attractive countries for emigration

Every tenth Russian would like to move abroad for permanent residence. At the same time, 89% do not want to leave anywhere; sociologists call this figure “the maximum in the entire history of measurements.” These are the data of a survey, the results of which were published on July 4 by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

The most attractive foreign countries for Russians are Germany (13% is now and 12% a year ago), the USA and Australia (by 10% against 7% in 2016), Italy (5%) and England (4%). They are followed by Israel, New Zealand and Spain (by 3%). About Canada dream 2% of respondents, the same about Switzerland, Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates.

Young Russians are more likely than others to say they want to move: 25% among 18-24 year olds, 16% among 25-34 year olds. At the same time, the highest immigration sentiment is observed among residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg (21%).

The most popular reasons for moving to another country were a higher standard of living (33%) there and social security (15%). 13% of respondents would like to leave to leave the country because of dissatisfaction with the policy pursued by the Russian authorities. 12% would change their place of residence because of the Russian climate. 6% of respondents want to move to relatives living abroad.

In addition, during the current survey, among the reasons for moving, Russians indicated factors that were not mentioned in 2016 in the year: the level of culture and medicine of another country (11% and 4%, respectively), respect for human rights (10%), unemployment in Russia (4%).

Among those who wish to emigrate, every fifth (20%) saves money for relocation, as many respondents collect information about the future country of residence, 19% learn a foreign language. At the same time, half of the respondents (51%) do nothing to move.

Recall that in June the results of a similar survey were presented by sociologists of the Levada Center. They found out that every third resident of Russia at the age of 18-24 years (32%) would like to leave for permanent residence abroad outside the borders of the former USSR. In general, according to Levada, 15% of respondents want to leave Russia.
