Named a profession that is becoming increasingly popular in the US
Every day in the US, around 10 000 people reach 65 for years, and most of them hope to spend old age in their own homes.
The large number of aging Americans has created demand for medical professionals to care for them at home - from nurses to aides and caregivers, writes CNBC.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2006 million jobs were added from 2016 to 2,8 in the health sector, which is seven times more than in other sectors of the economy over the same period. By 2026, the projected growth in the number of jobs in the medical field will be 18%. But the demand for home care assistants will outpace general growth in the medical field, increasing by 2026% to 41, to 4, millions of jobs.
In this industry, requests range from the highest level of qualified nurses and therapists to home care and nursing assistants. Lower-skilled jobs sometimes do not even require medical education, but applicants must pass short-term training and testing.
Companies operating in the industry expect that in the future, due to the rapid growth in demand, this area will face a shortage of workers. To solve this problem, several options are now being considered: from salary increases to changes in immigration law.
At the moment, home care professionals are paid 10-11 dollars per hour for home care, but salaries may increase soon because of a shortage of specialists.
