Trump's appointments: what you need to know about the new secretary of state and secretary of defense

The US Secretary of State is the country's chief diplomat, whose responsibilities include negotiating with as many countries as possible and avoiding conflicts with them.

If this is so, then there is no person more suitable for this position than Rex Tillerson, says Dr. Munr Kazmir, who stated his thoughts in the column for Huffington Post.

I have heard a lot of criticism of Tillerson for being too friendly with some countries, especially with Russia. But I'm not sure I understand these claims. As a CEO, Exxon Mobil Tillerson traveled the world. He managed to negotiate with influential people with whom it is not so easy to deal. Do not you think that this is a plus to his resume, and not a minus?

Do not misunderstand me, it does not mean that the United States should or will give in to anyone when Rex Tillerson is at the helm. This means that the US will negotiate intelligently and avoid armed conflict.

Russia is a great example. Yes, Vladimir Putin is a brutal dictator who unjustly punishes citizens and journalists who disagree with him. But this does not mean that negotiations with him are bad, and neither does it mean that we subscribe to his every step. It simply means that we are ready to talk with a potential enemy and try to avoid scenarios that are pushing us towards another unnecessary war.

And, in any case, what is the alternative?

Even when we impose sanctions on other countries, they never give the desired effect. Millions of people were starving because of the sanctions we used against Iraq, and their government simply used the situation for another wave of propaganda to convince its people that we are enemies. Decades of the embargo against Cuba did not help the Cuban people, nor did they overthrow the power and wealth of Fidel Castro.

Rex Tillerson understands this. He has everything to take advantage of the diplomatic skills gained while working at Exxon Mobil, and make sure that we do not provoke anyone unnecessarily and that America’s interests are protected.

Yes, he has no experience in government, but it was for making such unexpected decisions that the people chose Donald Trump. With his inexhaustible wisdom, the newly elected president understands that a successful businessman who can negotiate and has connections almost everywhere will better serve America’s diplomatic interests than any careerist bureaucrat.

I agree with some respected people with experience in government agencies. They also believe that Tillerson is perfect for this position.

Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, said: “Rex Tillerson is an excellent choice for the position of Secretary of State. It will bring with it an impressive and diverse international experience, a deep understanding of the world economy and faith in America’s special role in the world. ”

Similarly, James Baker, former US Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, believes. Baker says that Tillerson is an excellent choice for the position of head of the State Department, and adds: “As a CEO of one of the largest and well-managed companies, he demonstrated management skills and the ability to negotiate, as well as international experience that is needed for this job.”

Newly elected President Trump has already demonstrated that he is not going to play the same stupid game that politicians from Washington have played for many years. He is not going to choose people in his office just because the political establishment requires it.

Rather, just the opposite.

By appointing Rex Tillerson, newly elected President Trump made an unexpected but ingenious move to build and strengthen diplomatic relations with various countries of the world, while ensuring the continued support of our national interests abroad.

That is how it should be.

Perhaps the best quality of newly elected President Donald Trump is his talent for finding the best people in key positions. This is also the main reason for his success in business and will be the basis for his success as president of the United States, noted Kazmir in a column for Huffington Post.

General James “Mad Dog” Mattis is loved and respected by everyone with whom he served. He has both leadership skills and achievements, which makes him an ideal candidate for the post of defense secretary.

General Mattis is known for his harsh statements and the philosophy of “not taking prisoners”, but not everyone knows that he is a very intelligent person who always considers different sides of the issue before making a decision. It was he who demanded from his subordinates that they read books about the culture of their enemies and go to trainings on cultural sensitivity in order to be ready for battle not only physically, but mentally and emotionally.

Yes, he likes to set the heat sometimes, but he is a smart strategist and thinker. This will confirm everyone who served with him in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That is why, besides “Mad Dog”, it is also called “Warrior Monk”. Mattis is very flexible: he wants to destroy our enemies, but to do it in a deliberate, strategic way. This is evidenced by the way he criticizes the many mistakes made during the war in Iraq. He considers Iran to be the main threat, but he prefers a diplomatic solution, rather than simply breaking off the Iranian agreement and starting over.

He understands that Israel is under attack, but also understands that people on the other side of the conflict are suffering. He wants to stop attacks in the future, but he understands that torture is not the best way to get information.

And this is another forte of James Mattis: he has the courage to say what he thinks, regardless of the circumstances. The newly elected president, Trump, during the presidential race spoke out in favor of returning torture with water, but changed his mind a few weeks ago. Why? Yes, because James Mattis told him that it was not working.

And this already positively characterizes the newly elected President Trump: he will surround himself with the best and most intelligent cadres and will listen to their opinion. Donald Trump knows what all great people know: he is not omniscient. Yes, he demonstrated authoritarianism on some important issues, but also showed a willingness to listen to those people from his circle who are better oriented in certain issues than he. This is a sign of a great leader and a wise leader.

A very experienced general who is not afraid to say what he thinks will be at the head of the Department of Defense next to the president, who is keen enough to appoint this general, and smart enough to listen to him. This is a good union. So from January 20, we all, Americans, will be grateful that these 2 people serve our interests.
