Trump called the name of the new ambassador to Israel

President-elect Donald Trump called the name of the person he intends to appoint as ambassador to Israel. They should be David Friedman, Trump's adviser on the Middle East in his election campaign.

Friedman is known for his rather tough statements about the future policy of the United States in Israel. In particular, according to the LA Times, Friedman has repeatedly expressed the opinion that the American doctrine of the peaceful existence of Israel and Palestine does not work. This policy has been central to peace negotiations and all American diplomacy in the region for many years. And now, perhaps, the situation will change.

“For the last 25 years, we have tried with all our might to preserve these two states. But we see that this does not work. I don’t think the new president will try to continue this policy,” Friedman said recently in an interview with Ynet.

Friedman is also known for his views on the relationship between Israel and the United States. According to him, it is necessary to strengthen the inextricable link between the United States and Israel through the US Embassy in the eternal capital of Jerusalem.

This is quite interesting due to the fact that the United States still maintains its embassy in Tel Aviv, the official capital of Israel. Jerusalem is not officially recognized as the capital of Israel due to Palestinian territorial claims. Previously, no US president had said that he was going to move the embassy to Jerusalem so as not to destabilize the situation, but Donald Trump recently announced that he would seek such a move.

It is worth noting that Friedman is also known as Donald Trump's attorney in his Atlantic City bankruptcy proceedings.
