Flooding in Utah

Three people died as a result of flooding in Zion National Park (Utah). Representatives of local authorities reported on Tuesday that four more are missing.

Flooding was the result of heavy rainfall that hit some parts of Utah in recent days. Reportedly, the stream of water flooded part of a narrow canyon, where at the time of the incident there was a group of American tourists - four men and three women ages 50-60. The bodies of three of them were found by park rangers. According to them, the search for the missing will begin when the water level in the canyon drops to a safe level.

Earlier it was also reported that 12 people became victims of disasters in the city of Hildale in southwestern Utah, the fate of another is unknown. All the dead are women and children, the youngest of whom was four years old. They were in two cars that were torn down by powerful streams and went under the water. In total, the machines had 16 people, three children managed to escape.

The area of ​​Zion National Park, located near the city of Springdale, is about 600 sq. Km. Park attendance is over 2,5 million people per year. Hildale is located approximately 30 km south of Zion, near the border with the state of Arizona.
