Who carried out the most mass shooting in the history of the Czech Republic: horrific details about the killer have emerged

The student who carried out the worst mass shooting in Czech history at a Prague university, killing at least 14 people, has been linked to the murders of a father and his newborn child. The suspect in the deadly attack, who Prague police have not yet identified but has been identified in local media as 24-year-old David Kozak, is linked to a double murder that occurred on December 15 in the neighboring town of Klanowice.

A man and his two-month-old daughter were found mercilessly shot dead in the woods.

About 250 police spent a week combing the area around the crime scene, but found no leads.

However, after searching Kozak's home, police said they found evidence linking him to the shocking double murder.

“We are working very seriously with the possibility, which is very real at the moment, that today’s attacker is responsible for two more victims killed in the Klanowice Forest,” said Police Chief Martin Wondrasek, without specifying what evidence was found. “At this point, I am convinced that these were completely random victims of a person with no criminal history.”

It is believed that Kozak killed his own father in his hometown of Khostun, and then carried out a bloody massacre at his university.

Meanwhile, a series of chilling recordings in Russian were discovered on a Telegram channel associated with Kozak, in which a philosophy student spoke of a desire to carry out a bloodbath at the university.

“I want to shoot up a university and possibly commit suicide,” Kozak admitted in one of his online diary entries. - I always wanted to kill. I thought that in the future I would become a maniac."

The 24-year-old was apparently inspired by two recent school shootings in Russia and wrote with admiration about those who committed them.

“When Ilznaz carried out the shooting, I realized that committing mass murders is much more profitable than serial killings,” Kozak reflected, apparently referring to 19-year-old Ilznaz Galyaviev, who in 2021 killed 9 people at his former school in Kazan (Russia). ).

Kozak also praised 14-year-old Alina Afanaskina, who in Bryansk, Russia, killed a classmate and wounded five others in early December before turning her father's gun on herself.

“It was as if she came to my aid from heaven in time,” he wrote about Alina.

The post, dated December 17, said: “I hate this world and want to leave as much pain in it as possible.”

In his last message, dated December 19, Kozak complained that his “ears were ringing, like some damn fireflies. I wanted to rip my ears out.”

Kozak kept his Telegram channel private until the attack, when he made it public. It has since been removed.

Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakušan said investigators believe the shooter was not associated with any extremist ideology or terrorist groups.

At around 15:00 local time, Kozak, dressed all in black and carrying a large rifle, climbed to the fourth floor of the university's Faculty of Arts and opened fire, causing panic among students and teachers who ran for their lives.

As police approached the heavily armed gunman, he committed suicide, said Petr Matejcek, director of the regional police department in Prague.

The shooter legally owned several guns and had no criminal history, police said.

The Czech government declared December 23 a national day of mourning in memory of the victims.
