Israeli intelligence found Iran’s secret nuclear archive

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his country had obtained “secret documents” that showed Iran was deceiving the world by claiming to have frozen its nuclear program.

According to the Prime Minister, a few weeks ago, Israel had half a ton of documents from the Iranian nuclear archive, which was kept in an inconspicuous building in Tehran.

Israeli intelligence obtained 55 thousands of pages of nuclear software documents, as well as 55 thousands of files on 183 CDs.

In 2015, Iran agreed to freeze its nuclear program in exchange for easing the sanctions regime.

Tehran insists that the goal of the program was only peaceful nuclear energy.

Shortly before Netanyahu's speech, Iran's foreign minister tweeted that the Israeli prime minister was "deceiving the people."

US President Donald Trump has said many times that he wants to break the nuclear agreement with Iran, which was concluded during the presidency of Barack Obama.

European countries say they do not intend to break the treaty with Iran.

Benjamin Netanyahu said he discussed the Iranian documents discovered with the leaders of Germany and France and intends to send representatives to these two countries to discuss this issue in more detail.

A spokesman for the German government said his country would conduct a thorough analysis of the documents received by Israel, the agency said Rider.

What exactly did Netanyahu say?

Speaking in English at the Defense Ministry building in Tel Aviv, Benjamin Netanyahu showed off a rack of what he said were “exact copies” of documents obtained by Israeli intelligence in Tehran.

According to him, these 55 thousand pages of evidence and 55 thousand files were in the archives of a nuclear weapons development program called Project Amad.

“Project Amad,” Netanyahu said, aimed to develop five nuclear warheads with a yield of 10 kilotons of TNT.

During his presentation, Netanyahu said that Iran was developing key elements of a nuclear weapons program, for example, methods of producing warheads, and was also preparing for nuclear tests.

Iran, he said, was considering the possibility of using five places in the country for such tests.

“This is what is in these files: incriminating documents, incriminating maps, incriminating presentations, incriminating drawings, incriminating photographs, incriminating videos and much more,” the Israeli prime minister said.

“These documents completely prove that Iran shamelessly lied when it said it had never developed nuclear weapons,” he added.

According to him, the documents have already been submitted to the US intelligence services and will soon be sent to the IAEA.

In 2007, the US annual National Intelligence Assessment of the Strategic Environment said that the report's authors were "highly confident" that Iran had a nuclear weapons program before 2003, but that after it was discovered by Western intelligence, the work stopped over her.

On Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu said documents obtained by Israel prove that Iran "kept the Amad Project documents secret in order to use them in the future to develop nuclear weapons."

What is the 2015 contract of the year?

The agreement concluded by Iran and the six world powers weakens the regime of tough sanctions imposed on Iran in exchange for limiting the scope of Tehran’s nuclear program.

Many feared that Iran was developing nuclear weapons.

According to an agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran must drastically reduce the number of its centrifuges that enrich uranium.

It should also reduce its stockpiles of enriched uranium and not enrich its uranium to the level necessary to build nuclear weapons.

The number of centrifuges at uranium enrichment plants at Natanz and Fordo was greatly reduced, and tons of enriched uranium were sent for storage in Russia.

Moreover, representatives of the IAEA may conduct inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities without warning.

How dangerous is the confrontation between Iran and Israel?

Tensions between these two long-standing enemies have steadily increased since Iran increased its military presence in Syria.

Iran is accused of supplying weapons to both the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, which is hostile to Israel, and Palestinian militants.

Benjamin Netanyahu has already announced that he will not allow the growth of Iran’s military presence in Syria.

On Sunday evening, it became known that a number of targets in Syria were hit by rockets of unknown origin and that the Iranians were killed there.

In early April, aircraft from three Western countries bombed targets in Syria, allegedly related to the production or use of chemical weapons.

Israel is believed to have dozens of air strikes against targets in Syria, where Iranian armed forces are located.
