White House source tells how many immigrant children in the United States returned to their families
The agency source did not indicate how many families are under investigation in the USA.
About 500, children of illegal immigrants returned to their parents in the United States after the head of the US administration, Donald Trump, signed an order to stop the practice of separating families who illegally came to the United States. This writes the agency TASS, with reference to Associated Press (AP).
The interlocutor of the agency, a high-ranking official in the White House, does not have information about how many families are under investigation in the US, and how many probably left the country. According to the US Department of Homeland Security, between 19 April and 31 May, almost 2 thousand children were separated from their families.
In April, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the start of a “zero tolerance” policy for violators of immigration laws, including those who cross the border with children. Detained parents are necessarily taken into custody and prosecuted. Their children are sent to special detention centers because under American law they cannot be arrested. The authorities' actions caused a wave of criticism from Trump's political opponents - Democrats, as well as a number of his fellow party members and the international community.
A couple of days ago, President Donald Trump signed a decree that prohibits border guards from separating parents and migrant childrenthat illegally crossed the border with the United States.
On Thursday, June 21, the wife of US President Donald Trump, Melania, was sharply criticized for the choice of jacket in which she went to Texas to visit a center where children of illegal migrants are held. On the back of the jacket, in large letters, was written “I really don’t care, do you?” ("I really don't care do u?").
