Trump bans the separation of illegal migrants from their children
President Donald Trump has signed a decree that prohibits the separation of families of illegal migrants on the border with Mexico, writes NBC.
Nevertheless, Trump noted that the policy of "zero tolerance" for illegal immigrants will continue.
“We will have strong and very strong borders, but we will not separate families,” Trump said. He stressed that he does not like children being separated from their families.
Families will now be together in custody, and their cases will be dealt with more quickly.
Trump's decision was directly influenced by First Lady Melania. One of the White House officials said that the First Lady had a lot of talk with the President and urged him to do everything possible to help families stay together.
Note that according to the Department of Homeland Security, from May 5 to June 9, as a result of the family separation policy, more than 2300 children were separated from their parents.
