Festival summer in California: Amtrak added several trains for those who go to have fun

Amtrak is bringing back special Pacific Surfliner flights ahead of some of Southern California's biggest summer events. The edition told in more detail Fox5 san diego.

Starting Monday, July 17, the transit company will once again operate daily trains on the Los Angeles-San Diego rail corridor to handle crowds heading to Comic-Con, the Del Mare horse races, and the X Games Finals.

Three additional trains will be added to the Pacific Surfliner schedule by Sunday, July 23, according to the company:

• train 568 leaves Los Angeles at 09:10 and arrives in San Diego at 12:07;
• Train 799 leaves San Diego at 13:25 PM and arrives in Santa Barbara at 19:44 PM. This train will provide an evening return for X Games fans traveling north, leaving Ventura at 19:09 pm.
• train 798 leaves Santa Barbara at 20:50 pm and arrives in Los Angeles at 23:48 pm. It provides an overnight return for southbound X Games participants, departing Ventura at 21:43 pm.

The three added trains will make all regular stops on the Pacific Surliner route, Amtrak said. All 10 scheduled daily round trip flights will operate as normal during the extended service period.

This expansion announcement came after the tracks through San Clemente were reopened to passenger rail service after a month-long closure due to a landslide in the area.

The resumption eliminated the need for a shuttle bus between the Irvine and Oceanside stops.

San Diego Comic-Con will run from July 19 to July 23. The X Games Finals will take place this weekend from July 21 to July 23 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

The Del Mar Racecourse will open on Friday, July 21st. Train passengers will be provided with a free shuttle to the racetrack from Solana Beach Station.
