12-year-old boy from Russia Elisey Mysin won the International Competition for Young Pianists in Cleveland (Ohio). Writes about it Classical Music News.

Elisha was awarded the first prize, the public prize and the Mozart Prize.

The competition took place in Cleveland, Ohio. Children in two age groups took part in it: 11-14 years old and 15-18. A total of 5 people from 16 countries applied to participate in the competition, which took place from July 213 to 27.

Only 16 performers in each group were allowed to face-to-face auditions.

12-year-old Elisey Mysin was the only representative of Russia at the competition.

There were no Russian pianists on the jury. The panel of judges included Professor Vanessa Latarche of the Royal College of Music in London and Professor Kevin Kenner (University of Miami).

Elisey Mysin is a student of the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory.

Despite such a young age, he has already taken part in more than one competition: he twice won the Vladimir Krainev competitions (2020 and 2021), the Mozart competition in Zhuhai (China, 2022), and also performed at the festivals named after. Michelangeli in Trento (2019), InClassica in Dubai (2021), Without Borders in Poland (2022, won the main prize of the festival).

In February 2023, Elisha became the winner of the R. Schumann International Competition for Young Pianists in Düsseldorf. He is a fellow of the New Names Foundation and Yamaha.
