Disney World has started demanding fingerprints on children from 3 years

Walt Disney World (WDW) has introduced a new rule for visitors to its theme parks. Now, not only adults and teenagers, but also children aged 3 to 9 will pass the fingerprint scanning procedure at the entrance.

In this way, the company intends to deal with one of the most popular tricks, which some unscrupulous visitors use, taking several entrance tickets to the park for several young children. Now, along with the children's ticket from the parents or the 3-9 age accompanying the child, persons will also be required to leave the fingerprint of the little visitor on a special automatic scanning device.

As reported on the official website of the company, those parents who do not want their child to undergo the scanning procedure can leave their fingerprint in the scanner along with the appropriate children's ticket. In Disney, they also believe that the new rule will help the company to block stolen tickets in a timely manner and identify “birds”:

“At the entrance to many of our theme parks and water parks, we offer comfortable Ticket Tag. They simplify the re-entry procedure and help prevent fraud.

To use the Ticket Tag, just put your finger on the reader. The biometric system will scan the fingerprint, convert it to a unique digital code and immediately destroy the image. The resulting digital code will be required for each re-use of the Ticket Tag with the same ticket when re-entering the park or when visiting another park. Fingerprints in the Ticket Tag are not saved. ”

Earlier, according to the WDW rules, only adults, children from 10 and children and adolescents should pass through the fingerprint scanner. The kids were allowed into the parks only on their children's tickets, and this was particularly used by particularly enterprising parents in order to save a little. The children's ticket, which was not confirmed by a fingerprint, could be simply reused, following several children with the same ticket. Disney has been using biometric scanners for more than 10 years, but the company has previously used “fingers” only from adults.
