'So that tyrants don't get him': American astronauts will deliver the flag of Ukraine into space
The Ukrainian flag will be launched on a SpaceX rocket. The all-private Polaris Dawn mission has publicly declared its support for Ukraine as the country comes under relentless Russian attack. Space.
The Polaris Dawn crew, led by Inspiration4 founder and tech billionaire Jared Isaacman, will launch into Earth orbit flying the Ukrainian flag, mission members announced on March 7. Polaris Dawn will be the debut mission of the Polaris program, which so far includes three flights on SpaceX ships.
“We support Ukraine and its brave citizens, as well as all those who fight for freedom around the world. The Polaris Dawn crew will fly this flag into space, which is still beyond the reach of tyranny,” the program wrote on Twitter.

Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The US government, as well as international allies, responded with sweeping sanctions against Russia. The political implications of this war also seeped into space.
Numerous partnerships in space have been undermined since Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, although NASA maintains that the International Space Station program, which includes both NASA and the Russian space agency Roscosmos, along with other partners, is still operating as normal.
Isaacman, who made his fortune as the founder and CEO of payment processing company Shift4, will command the Polaris Dawn mission to Earth orbit. The mission includes three other crew members who also have extensive experience in aviation and spaceflight: Scott Potit, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon.
Polaris Dawn will fly aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule with mission objectives including completing the first-ever commercial spacewalk, testing Starlink laser communications in space, and conducting science experiments.

Isaacman then plans to fly more missions as part of the Polaris program, which aims to both human spaceflight and fund charitable causes on Earth.
In his previous project, Inspiration4, four civilians flew into space over several days in September 2021. The projects raise hundreds of millions of dollars for the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
