В San Francisco (California) and Massachusetts have also introduced similar bans on electronic cigarettes as a result of a number of lung diseases that are thought to be related to vaping.

“Reports of illnesses and deaths caused by vaping devices are a public health crisis,” said the proposal introduced by Councilor Paul Koretz. “Los Angeles does not want to wait and do nothing as the number of illnesses and even deaths associated with vaping increases every day.”

Los Angeles County has already banned flavored electronic cigarettes and menthol supplements, which Michigan and New York. US Presidential Administration Donald trump supports such a decision.

According to the latest data, pabout at least 18 people have died from lung diseases, but the cause has not yet been determined.

Experts opposed to the ban say they will only encourage smokers to use illegal products.

“What bans like this could do is increase the use of illegal products and reduce the level of regulation, which, ironically, will increase the use of products that cause disease,” said Northeastern University professor Lev Beletsky.
