San Francisco became the first city in the United States to ban electronic cigarettes

The authorities of San Francisco (California) 25 June adopted in second reading a bill prohibiting the sale in the city of any electronic cigarettes.

According to the adopted document, the sale of electronic cigarettes that have not received a safety certificate from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And since no electronic cigarette manufacturer has yet received such a certificate, this means that the ban in San Francisco applies to all products in this category.

After the bill is passed by the city council, it is sent to the mayor of the city for consideration, London Breed has 10 days to study and sign it, giving it official power, or vetoing it.

But earlier, the mayor had already declared her approval of such a ban: "We must take measures to protect the health of San Francisco youth."

The full law will take effect from 2020 onwards. The ban will not affect the sale of regular cigarettes, other tobacco products and medical marijuana.
