The richest businessman in the world, Jeff Bezos, declared blackmail

The richest man in the world, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, accused American Media Inc., which publishes the tabloid newspaper National Enquirer, for blackmail. Bezos claims that the representatives of the holding threaten to publish his personal photos, but they deny it.

The letter, which, according to Bezos, came to his team from representatives of the AMI holding, said that they had at their disposal photographs that Bezos sent to his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez. Among them are pictures in which the richest man in the world appears naked.

To avoid publishing photos, Bezos, as he says, demanded that the holding’s newspapers cover his divorce from biased positions.

Bezos had never commented on these articles before, but his adviser Gavin de Becker told reporters that he saw political motives in the AMI holding's coverage of the divorce.

Now Bezos argues that he is required to refute, threatening the publication of photos.

“They will publish these personal photos unless Gavin de Becker and I make this particular false statement in the press - we must say that 'we have no information or reason to believe that AMI's coverage was politically motivated or influenced by political forces' ", writes Bezos in a blog on the Medium platform.

Tabloid chief David Pecker, as the American media wrote, has long maintained close relations with Donald Trump. During the election of 2016, the tabloid supported Trump.

Last September, the federal prosecutor's office entered into a pre-trial agreement with AMI and its leader Pecker, under which they pledged to disclose to the investigation details of how the publisher helped Trump to hide stories about politics between women and the public during the election campaign.

In particular, the newspaper bought the rights to the history of the model Karen McDougal, who claimed that she had entered into an intimate relationship with Trump, after which the editors did not publish it.

Prosecutors view the payment of 500 thousand dollars to McDougal as an undeclared donation to Trump's election fund; the company and its leaders agreed to cooperate with the investigation in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

The company American Media Inc responded to the statement of the head of Amazon, Jeff Bezos.

The AMI statement said that the journalists of the publication acted in accordance with the law, preparing material for publication on Bezos’s personal life.

Jeff Bezos has owned the Washington Post since 2013. Trump often expresses dissatisfaction with the publications of the Washington Post and often links the newspaper with the Amazon store in his tweets. In reality, there are no other connecting links between the Washington Post and Amazon other than the common owner, Jeff Bezos.
