American circus with a century and a half history will be closed forever

Since May 2017, the legendary American circus Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which existed for 146 years, will cease its performances forever. This was stated by its owner Juliet Feld.

The reason for the closure was the decline in ticket sales over the past 10 years and the onslaught of animal rights activists.

Animal Protection Organization PETA released a claim that the elephant act was the saddest show on Earth, and asked other animal circuses to follow Ringling Bros.'s lead. and Barnum & Bailey.

According to Feld, the final decision was made after the elephants were removed from the circus program. This triggered the biggest drop in ticket demand.

The owner also explained the low attendance change audience preferences.

All of the above factors against the background of high operating costs led to the decision to close the circus.

“This was a very difficult decision for me and for the entire family,” said Kenneth Feld, chief executive of Feld Entertainment.

After the closure of the circus 500, its employees will be left without work.

The final circus show will take place on May 7 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The history of the circus began in 1884, in Wisconsin. Seven Ringling brothers founded the circus after their 7-summer performances. Soon he was discovered outside the United States, as the "greatest show of the world."
