American woman mysteriously disappeared on Thanksgiving: the groom is accused of murder

Kelsey Berreth, 29, was last seen on security camera footage entering a grocery store in Woodland Park on November 22. Three days after that, SMS messages came from her phone - according to the police, the device was 1300 km from her home, but no one saw Kelsey herself again.

A Colorado resident groom who disappeared on Thanksgiving Day was arrested and charged with murder and incitement to murder. Patrick Freysey told investigators that he met with Kelsey that day to take away their common one-year-old daughter from her (the couple did not live together), writes CBS News.

Greg Coach, a Teller County Sheriff spokesman, told reporters that his department had issued an arrest warrant for Frezy in his house. According to the police, the child is under guardianship and reunited with family members.

At a press conference on Friday, Woodland Park Police Chief Miles de Young stated: based on “numerous interviews,” investigators no longer believe that Berret is alive.

“We finally have enough information to charge Patrick for his involvement in Kelsey’s death,” de Young said.

De Young did not report on the motive of the missing woman's fiancé, saying only that the investigation is continuing and the work is just beginning.

The police chief described a “methodical, time-consuming investigation in several states” involving local, state and federal officials who worked almost “around the clock” to find Berret. He said that the woman’s body had not yet been discovered, and refused to speculate where it might be, but clarified that the investigators had developed a plan to narrow the search area.

De Young confirmed that Berret had called in Idaho, but the investigators had not yet located him. According to him, cell phone records and other technical aspects of the investigation also led to the arrest. Also, investigators found in the house of Kelsey several suspicious details that could indicate a possible crime committed in this place.

The specialist did not specify whether everything was planned by Freizee alone or with someone else, but confirmed that only the fiancé of the missing was arrested so far, adding that arrests might not end there.

District Attorney Dan May said it is a crime under Colorado law to incite someone to commit a crime. For such an action to qualify, it is sufficient that the person takes a “substantial step” towards the criminal act, and not necessarily completes it.

Official charges will be filed within 10 days.

The investigation began on December 2 after mother Berrett asked the police to check if her daughter was ok. Frazee told the police that Berret had last written to him on November 25, Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Her employer from the aviation company received a text message from Berret’s phone that day saying that she was planning a vacation next week. The police later received data indicating that Berret’s phone was near Gooding, Idaho, on that very day, almost 1300 km from her home.

According to real estate records, Berreth purchased the Woodland Park home in May of this year. Patrick Frazee has his own ranch, which was also searched and completed - the police have not yet provided details.
