A lawyer burned himself in Brooklyn Park to protest climate change
Famous American lawyer, 60-year-old David Buckle set himself on fire in New York Park to protest climate change and died.
His remains were found in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, writes with the BBC.
Next to the body, a suicide note was found, stating that the man burned himself, using fossil fuels, as a symbol of "what human activity does with the Earth." He noted that most people now breathe bad air and very many die prematurely.
Backsl also sent a suicide note to several news organizations, they received it shortly before the lawyer's body was found in the park.
“My premature fuel death shows how we all deal with ourselves.” Pollution destroys our planet, manifesting itself in everything: in the air, soil, water and weather, ”wrote the lawyer.
He added that such actions are not new - according to the lawyer, "many people choose death because they see that no other actions can attract enough attention and reflect the harm they see being caused to the planet."
Backl was known as a human rights defender dealing with environmental issues and the rights of the LGBT community.
