96-year-old priest caught in possession of child pornography

On a computer 96-year-old former priest, who once held a high position in the archdiocese in New York, child pornographic photos were found.
According to the investigation, Monsignor Harry Byrne showed them to other residents of a nursing home for the priests in which he lives, reports NBC.
Law enforcement officers found dozens of photographs of girls at the age of 8 who posed naked or had sex with men.
According to the investigation, many residents of the nursing home have seen how he viewed these images.
For storing and displaying these photos, Byrne faces up to four years in prison.
Byrne was the Chancellor of the Archdiocese from 1968 to 1970 a year, that is, he headed the central administrative bodies and official documents of the Archdiocese.
According to the lawyer of the suspect, he cooperates with the investigation and is currently in a medical institution. The lawyer claims that throughout his life the man had a “spotless reputation”.
“It is difficult to imagine that, at the age of 96, this respected member of the priesthood understood and could therefore be held responsible for files contained on a computer that was accessible to many people,” the lawyer said.
