'Forced to live in America': the Russian minister spoke about the suffering of his son

Former Minister of “Open Government” Affairs Mikhail Abyzov spoke about his son’s departure to the United States due to the possible removal of guardianship authorities. He mentioned this at a meeting in the Basmanny court of Moscow, which on Thursday, October 24, considers the petition of the investigation to extend the arrest of Abyzov, writes RBC.

“As a result of the fact that my middle son, who lived and studied in Russia, in my absence, could be removed by the guardianship authorities as a minor, he was forced to leave to live in America. This is a big personal tragedy for him, because he does not imagine his life outside of Russia, ”the ex-minister said.

According to Abyzov, now all of his assets, "including funds to support the family," are arrested. “I have two dependent children from my ex-wife, I am deprived of the opportunity to pay child support because everything is blocked,” the accused said.

In total, accounts and assets worth more than 27 billion rubles ($ 421, 335 million) were arrested at Abyzov. In August, the Moscow City Court canceled the interim measure in respect of part of the assets, indicating that the amount of the arrested was many times greater than the damage in his case ($ 62,420 million). After this, the TFR initiated a new case against Abyzov - illegal business with an income of 32 billion rubles. ($ 499, 360 mln) and further laundering of these funds. After this, on 16 of September, seized assets were re-imposed.

“I have been doing business since 1992, for seven years I was an adviser to the president and the minister. For impeccable service awarded state and government awards. I have created dozens of enterprises where tens of thousands of people worked. I personally paid taxes of several billion rubles, my enterprises - tens of billions of rubles. Taxes are paid in order to ensure the functioning of state institutions, one of which is the court, your honor, ”Abyzov added.

Abyzov was detained in March this year. He is charged with creating a criminal community and fraud. Several managers of companies belonging to Abyzov are also involved in the case. According to investigators, in the 2012-2014 years, Abyzov, already working in the government and not having the right to manage the business, organized a complex transaction with his own assets. As a result of such a deal, minority shareholders of his companies suffered damage, and 4 billion rubles. ($ 62,420 million) were withdrawn abroad. In September, it became known that a new case was opened in relation to Abyzov - on the legalization of income for 30 billion rubles ($ 468,150 million).
