In Ukraine, people who helped Yanukovych’s team steal billions received high posts from Poroshenko

Internet edition "Ukrainian Truth» and the Anti-Corruption Center received at their disposal from the TV channel Al Jazeera the text of a classified court decision, which, surrounded by the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, confiscated a record amount for Ukraine - 1,5 billion dollars. According to the text of the decision, the fraud of the Jankovic team was related to the financial company ICU, whose representatives the current president, Petro Poroshenko, appointed to key posts in power.

So, one of the founders of ICU was Valeria Gontareva, who was appointed the Head of the National Bank. The second founder, Makar Pasenyuk, is called by the deputies of the BPP “Poroshenko’s financier” and one of the most knowledgeable people in the president’s business affairs. Another representative of the ICU, Dmitry Volk, headed the National Commission for state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities, and Vladimir Demchishin became Minister of Energy. In addition, it was the ICU that at one time accompanied the process of transferring the corporation Roshen in “blind trust”.

In the received media court decision describes the activities of “Yankovic’s criminal organization” and its division - the so-called “SEPEC group of companies”, which, according to investigators, was led by Sergei Kurchenko, disguising it as a financial corporation. SEPEC created fictitious companies to evade taxes and launder money.

In total, 400 Ukrainian and foreign companies were created for money laundering. Ultimately, the money settled on offshore 10 accounts: Foxtron networks limited, Katiema enterprises limited, Loricom holding limited, Wonderbliss LTD, Quickpace LTD, Sabulong trading LTD, Kviten solution limited, Baleingate finance ltd, Akemi management LTD, Opalcore LTD.

In 2013, these offshore companies transferred money to Oschadbank accounts and then bought foreign currency bonds of an external government loan with them - securities that the state issues to raise funds within the country. Offshore companies bought these bonds through the ICU company - according to the document, 8 out of 10 of the above-mentioned offshore companies entered into agreements for brokerage services with the ICU company. She, in turn, purchased bonds for the company from Kurchenko’s orbit using money previously stolen from state-owned enterprises. The agreements were signed at approximately the same time, and some even on the same day. All brokerage agreements in which ICU participated are currently being called fictitious by the court and investigation.

In order to clearly illustrate the role of the brokerage activity of ICU, the journalists of “Ukrainska Pravda” give such an example. Imagine that a group of criminals robbed a bank and left the crime scene on a car with a driver who the bank did not rob. Can I blame him for a robbery? To do this, he needs to be interrogated and determine whether he deliberately drove this group of people knowing what she would do.

At the same time, the role of the ICU in the schemes described above has not been studied, although, obviously, they received criminal money as payment for services.
