Rescuers in Virginia pulled a wrecked car from an unexpectedly formed hole in the road. A parked car fell into it completely.

The road failed 4 July in Dale City, swallowing a red car, which at that time, fortunately, was nobody, writes Fox News.

"It's just crazy, we bought a house here in 1984 and nothing like this has ever happened on this road since then," said Marlene Brumbaugh, who lives next to the collapsed section of road.

Photographs published by the Prince-William Police Department show how rescuers descend into a pit to attach the car to the crane, after which the tow truck lifted the wrecked car and put it back on the road.

Virginia Department of Transportation officials said the reason for the destruction of the road was most likely a record amount of precipitation.
