Movie star Susan Sarandon arrested in Washington

Actress Susan Sarandon was among the 575 women arrested in Washington on Thursday after they held a protest against the “zero tolerance” immigration policy in the Senate office under the Department of Justice.

The actress tweeted a photo of herself and other women holding signs demanding the closure of immigration camps and declaring, "We care," referring to the controversial jacket worn by First Lady Melania Trump while visiting children in detention centers on last week.

After that, Susan wrote “Arrested. Stay strong. Continue to fight, ”accompanied by the post hashtag“ insubordination of women. ”

Separation of families occurs when parents are detained on charges of illegally crossing the border. At the same time, children are considered as “unaccompanied minors” and are transferred to the care of the Ministry of Health and Social Services. They are placed in temporary detention centers or foster families for a time until the government decides what to do with them further.

The Department of National Security (DHS) reported an 203% increase in illegal border crossing from March 2017 to March 2018.

The fact that in the period from October 2017 to May 2018, more than two thousand children of illegal migrants separated on the border, it became known in mid-June. This practice was a consequence of the policy of "zero tolerance" for those who illegally cross the border.

After harsh public and establishment criticism, President Donald Trump signed decree that prohibits separation of children from their parents.
