In the USA, new maps have been published, on which the Golan Heights are shown by part of Israel. A PHOTO
On the same maps, Judea and Samaria are called disputed territories, and Jerusalem “without borders.”
In the USA, new geographical maps were prepared, on which the Golan Heights were first marked as Israeli territory. About this on Wednesday night, 17 April, said in his Twitter, Jason Greenblatt, the Middle East envoy of President Donald Trump.
Having published a new map, the diplomat recalled that the United States officially recognized the sovereignty of Israel in the Golan, and Donald Trump signed the corresponding decree.
On the map you can see that the Golan is marked as Israeli territory - unlike Judea, Samaria and Gaza, which are shaded in a different color. The clarification states that these are Israeli-occupied territories covered by the “internal Israeli-Palestinian agreement.”
It is also indicated that the permanent status of these territories should be determined within the framework of negotiations.
As for Jerusalem, it is explained here that the United States, having recognized this city as the capital of Jerusalem in 2017, was not definitively determined with its position on sovereignty within certain boundaries.
Let us recall that on March 25, the US President signed a declaration recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Donald Trump called the move "historic" and of critical importance for Israel.
The international community has sharply negatively reacted to the actions of the White House, however, the matter did not go further.
As ForumDaily wrote earlier:
- 9 April in the early parliamentary elections in Israel, incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main rival, Benny Gantz, got an almost equal number of votes, but Netanyahu managed for the fifth time to head the government thanks to the support of the parties ideologically close to him.
- 25 March 2019, US President Donald Trump signed a document recognizing sovereigntyOf Israel over the Golan Heights. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Trump for this step.
- The Golan Heights before 1967, were part of Syria. During the Six Day War, Israeli troops occupied this territory. Israel introduced its administration and laws in the Golan Heights in 1981, but other governments did not recognize this act.
- Syria is constantly seeking to restore sovereignty over the region. For decades, the UN peacekeeping mission periodically took place on the plateau, which was folded and resumed several times.
- This is not the first step of the United States towards Isaril. So, December 6, 2017, US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and called on the State Department to begin the process of moving the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, opening of the embassy in this city, it was timed to the 70 anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.
