In New York, they want to deport an illegal who delivered pizza to a military base

An illegal immigrant from Ecuador, 35-year-old Pablo Villavicencio was detained by agents of the Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) after he delivered a pizza to the military base of Fort Hamilton, located in New York, writes CNN.

A man delivered a pizza from a restaurant in Queens, where he worked. He showed his IDNYC ID card to the guard, as he always did before. But this was not enough, and he was asked to submit additional documents.

According to a military installation spokesman, after the pizza delivery man failed to undergo additional screening, he was detained - and it turned out that the Ecuadorian was considered a "fugitive by ICE" since 2010. And the agency had a deportation order for Villavicencio.

“He did his job and did not commit a crime. He did nothing illegal other than work to support his two daughters,” said wife Sandra Chica.

According to her, Villavicencio may be deported as early as next week.

It is noted that in February a man applied for a green card and waited for a response from the authorities. He is married to a US citizen, and they bring up two daughters who were born in the USA.

A spokeswoman for ICE said that his application for a green card would not prevent his deportation.

An immigration judge sentenced XIVUMX to deportation of Villavicencio after he exceeded his visa term. He received a formal notification asking him to leave the country, but he did not.

It is noted that the IDNYC card was introduced into use in 2015 as a free and official proof of identity for city residents who do not have legal status in the country. Cardholders' personal information may not be disclosed to federal law enforcement or immigration authorities without City approval. Applicants are not required to disclose their immigration status to receive the card.

The situation caused a wave of indignation among migrants. Writes New York Post, the owner of the restaurant where the injured migrant worked, said that she would no longer send her employees to deliver orders to the military base. Employees announced a baikot and no longer want to deliver orders and put their lives at risk.
