In New Jersey, more than ten trains were canceled for three months

NJ Transit plans to cut fares on the company's trains by 10% over three months, from November 2018 to January 2019, as it faces major service disruptions while the lines undergo safety checks and adjustments.

Beginning with October 13, more than a dozen trains will be canceled or their route will be significantly changed, writes NBC.

The changes will affect trains running along the northeast corridor, the North Jersey coastline, Morris and Essex lines, lines to Montclair-Bunton and Main and Bergen County.

“These schedule adjustments are temporary and we expect to begin restoring regular service in mid-January 2019,” the company said.

The following trains will be temporarily canceled:

• 3832 train arriving at 10: 42 at Penn Station from Trenton;
• 3703 train departing at 6: 04 from Penn Station to New Brunswick;
• 3857 train leaving for 3: 42 from Penn Station to Trenton;
• 3500 train arriving at 7: 00 at Penn Station from South Amboy;
• 3507 train leaving for 7: 46 from Penn Station to South Amboy;
• 330 train arriving at 18: 01 in Hoboken from Summit;
• 332 train arriving at 18: 57 in Hoboken from Summit;
• 436 train arriving at 22: 38 at Hoboken from Gladstone;
• 684 train arriving at 00: 28 at Hoboken from Dover;
• 303 train departing 5: 59 from Hoboken to Summit;
• 643 train departing 16: 42 from Hoboken to Dover;
• 467 train departing 18: 07 from Hoboken to Murray Hill;
• 441 train departing 19: 09 from Hoboken to Gladstone;
• 209 train leaving for 6: 11 from Hoboken to MSU;
• 1146 train arriving at 6: 37 at Hoboken from Suffern;
• 1218 train arriving at 15: 05 at Hoboken from Waldvik;
• 1105 train departing 7: 00 from Hoboken to Suffern;
• 1155 train departing 12: 39 from Hoboken to Suffern.

In addition, all trains in Princeton-Dinky will be replaced by buses for the entire inspection period, and all rail flights in Gladstone will be replaced by buses on weekends.

The schedule of the following trains will be adjusted for the period of security work:

• The 301 train, which departs from Hoboken to 4: 55 and arrives at the Summit on 5: 46, will leave 10 minutes earlier;
• The 300 train, which departs from Summit at 5: 23 and arrives at Hoboken at 6: 11, will leave 18 minutes earlier;
• The 432 train arriving in Hoboken from Gladstone to 18: 19 will leave 19 minutes earlier and will replace the 330 train;
• The 813 train leaving Hoboken to Lake Hopatkong at 18: 34 will reach Dover and will be renumbered to the 657 train leaving Hoboken at 18: 36;
• The 341 train leaving Hoboken for Summit on 19: 03 will be sent a minute later on 31;
• The 1245 train, which leaves for Hoboken on 6: 52 and arrives at Waldwick on 7: 38, will leave for 32 minutes later and will be renumbered on the 1247 train;
• The 1118 train, which leaves for Suffern at 14: 48 and arrives at Hoboken at 15: 59, will leave 48 minutes earlier and replace the 1218 train;
• The 1158 train, which leaves Suffern for 8: 04 and arrives in Hoboken at 9: 12, will be sent from Waldwick to 8: 18.
• The 1131 train departing from Hoboken to Suffern in 22: 55 will only go to Ridgewood.

A statement from NJ Transit's executive director, Kevin Corbett, says that the agency “carefully looked at the schedules of all the trains and chose the most reasonable adjustment option.”

“Our customers will always be our first priority and they should receive a safe and reliable service,” he said.
