In the Atlantic, the hurricane season has begun ahead of time: how does it threaten
On May 20, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced that the first storm of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season had formed hundreds of miles southwest of Bermuda—the fifth year in a row this has occurred before the start of the official hurricane season. The natural phenomenon was named Andrea and classified as a subtropical storm. It has since weakened to a subtropical depression.
Meteorologists AccuWeather they track the low pressure area, which existed since last week mainly as an area of showers and thunderstorms. On May 20, this area moved north of the Bahamas, gaining strength along the way, as a result of which experts from the National Hurricane Center sent a plane to the epicenter of the system to study the nature of the natural phenomenon.
For the fifth consecutive year, storms in the Atlantic Basin begin before the official start of the season, said Brian McNoldy, a senior fellow at the Rosenstiel School at Miami University. Traditionally, the beginning of the hurricane season is considered to be 1 June, and it continues until November 30. Andrea marked the fifth annual storm that began earlier.

Hurricanes AccuWeather expert Dan Kottlowski stressed that although the storm is strong enough and therefore got its own name, this is not the most impressive weather phenomenon.
“This will be a very short-lived storm,” Kottlowski said. “She probably won’t survive Tuesday night and will move away from Bermuda.”
The expert noted that lower water temperatures will cause the storm to subside. According to him, the water temperature in the Atlantic, where Andrea is heading north, is about 78 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius). As the storm moves to the northwest, it will encounter cooler waters along the way.

“Impacts [on Bermuda] will include gusty winds, intermittent heavy rainfall and high tides,” Kottlowski said.

Everyone who works on the ocean ships in the area should be especially careful, but the expert says that this storm will not be a special event for the islands.
“Their winter storms have been worse than this,” he added.
Kottlowski also advised not to focus on this storm as an indicator for the entire hurricane season in the Atlantic basin.
“This early season development will not predict what the rest of the hurricane season will bring, especially since it is a weak storm,” the expert said.

However, it has earned one of the names on the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season list, meaning the next tropical storm in the Atlantic will be named Barry.
