At a meeting with the community, the President of Ukraine spoke about granting autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to him, the process has already reached the final stretch.

“I have never named the date of the Tomos, and I will not name it. I said that we, Ukrainians, need to pray and fight for the Lord to send him to us. But I am firmly convinced that we are already at the finish line,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“Taking into account the long-suffering path that the Ukrainians have gone through, this clearly indicates that our victory is approaching, and we will liberate the Ukrainian land,” he said.

The president noted that in every state the church should be separated.

“I completely agree with this, especially when this state is foreign. This is our task - to protect Ukraine from that foreign church, because we are the largest Orthodox country in Europe,” said the head of state.

Poroshenko added that “there should be one church - Ukrainian.”

Recall that US State Department made an official statement on Washington’s position on the autocephaly of the Ukrainian church.
