Former partner of Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, said that Manafort helped Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during the 2014 presidential campaign of the year. It is reported by the television channel NBC, whose correspondent is at the court hearing in the case of Manafort.

According to him, the last time they worked with Manafor in Ukraine before the parliamentary elections in October 2014, writes RBC-Ukraine.

Gates noted that he and Manafort last worked in Ukraine on the Opposition Bloc campaign before parliamentary elections in October. The company also assisted Petro Poroshenko,” NBC reports.

At the same time, Gates said that they did not receive a full fee for their services.

Recall, Gates at the trial confirmed that the Ukrainian clients of the political consultant transferred him millions of dollars. During the trial, Gates said that in Ukraine, Manafor had been paid millions of dollars for his work. They transferred this money to the unregistered bank accounts of Manafor in Cyprus.

It is noted that officially Ukrainian politicians did not sign any documents with Manafort. Instead, they were local directors who put their signatures, for which they were paid money.

At the same time, he confirmed that they were aware of the violation of the law. Rick Gates also admitted that he appropriated several hundred thousand dollars using access to foreign accounts using fictitious transactions.

Recall that Rick Gates appeared before the court in the case of Manafort on Monday. He told how he helped his former business partner to evade taxes and how he himself stole part of the money from him.

Earlier, the first witness in the case of political technologist Paul Manafort Ted Devine said that Gates offered to Manafort work for the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“They (Gates and Manafort) tried to put everything together,” Devine said, noting that he refused to work for Poroshenko.

The press service of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine stressed that his team never cooperated with Manafort.

“The team of Petro Poroshenko has never collaborated with either Paul Manafort or his people. Proposals for cooperation came among others, however, they were not even considered, ”the presidential administration said.

Devine worked with Manafort on the image of Viktor Yanukovich during the election campaign in Ukraine in 2010.

In addition, in 2014, Manafort offered his services to Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, but he refused.
