The microblogging network Twitter has officially announced that the limit on 140 characters in messages has been changed. As stated in блоге Todd Sherman, the company's senior manager, will no longer take into account all media applications in tweets - videos, GIF-files, photos and other images.

Up to now, additional elements have occupied up to 23 space marks even with automatic compression. Failure to use pictures and other elements as symbols will give users the ability to use more multimedia content in their posts.

In addition, the 140 character rule also ceases to act in responses to tweets marked with the [@ username] symbol. New tweets that start with this symbol will be visible to all followers. The Retweet button is activated in such a way that allows users to re-share their own messages and quotes.

Todd Sherman stressed that all new features will work in the coming months. The company wants third-party application developers to tailor their products accordingly.

Jack Dorsey, one of the founders and head of Twitter, said that the purpose of the latest innovations is to simplify the lives of users and make messages more meaningful.

Experts believe that Twitter has gone for changes in the rules of use in order to attract new users, whose growth has slowed recently.

Twitter's previous full idea removing restrictions on 140 characters on the message (the new ceiling was planned to be installed at around 10 thousands of characters) was not approved. The company refused to criticize potential innovations by many users.

In February, Twitter launched a new feature that allows users to customize the tape based on their personal interests, and tweets appear in order of priority.
