Trump accused the Oscar-winning African-American director of racism

Trump said he did more for African Americans than almost any other president in US history. And director Spike Lee called during the ceremony to “mobilize” for the 2020 election of the year and make the right “moral choice”.

US President Donald Trump in his Twitter reacted strongly to the speech of the director Spike Lee during the Oscars, writes RBC.

“It would be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes or, even better, if he didn’t use his notes at all when he delivered his racist attack on the president who had done more for African Americans than almost any other president!” wrote trump. He also noted that he is talking about criminal justice reform, the lowest unemployment rates in history, tax cuts, etc.

The film "Black clanman", directed by Spike Lee, won an Oscar for the best adapted script. The picture is based on real events and tells the story of an African-American policeman, at the turn of the 1970-s, who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan and sent his partner-Jew to the ranks of the organization.

While receiving the award, Spike Lee read his speech from a few crumpled sheets. In his speech, he turned to the period of slavery in American history, recalled his grandparents, and also "all his ancestors who helped build this country, despite the genocide."

The Washington Post writes that Trump has repeatedly noted earlier that the position of African Americans and Hispanics in his presidency has improved. According to official statistics from the US Census Bureau, this is true, the newspaper points out.

However, Trump’s critics point out that there are various methodologies for evaluating statistical data indicating that his statements are more true for Latin Americans (and not for African Americans), and also note that welfare growth began before Trump became president.
