US President Donald Trump and the film “Holmes & Watson” were awarded the “Golden Razzie” (Razzie Awards) in several categories, according to the award’s Youtube channel.

As they say in the comic video, the American leader was awarded an anti-prize for the worst acting in the documentaries “Death of a Nation” and “Fahrenheit 11/9”, where he appeared as himself, writes RIA News.

Trump's competition in this category included actors John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Will Ferrell and Johnny Depp, or rather, his voice. In addition, the head of the White House won in the category “Worst Acting Duo”: in the same films, as the organizers write, he performed in an ensemble with “his endless pettiness.”

The president's wife Melania Trump, also nominated for an anti-award for her supporting role in the film Fahrenheit 11/9, was left without an award. She was surpassed by Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, who also “performed a role” in this documentary.

Several “raspberries” went to the film “Holmes & Watson” directed by Ethan Coen. It won in the categories "Worst Picture", "Worst Director", "Worst Prequel, Sequel, Remake or Plagiarism". Actor John C. Reilly, who played Watson in this film, was recognized as worst supporting actor.

Actress Melissa McCarthy, who is up for an Oscar this year for her role in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, was awarded a Golden Raspberry for her participation in the films Adult Toys and Party Life. Fifty Shades Freed won in the Worst Screenplay category.

Traditionally, the Golden Raspberry is awarded the day before the Oscar winners are announced. As film buffs note, this is no coincidence - often the same actors receive the prize for best and worst work in the same year, so such a close contrast in time has a particularly striking effect.

The Golden Raspberry Awards were created in 1980 by American publicist John Wilson as a parody of the annual Hollywood awards season. It has been awarded annually since 1982. The name of the award comes from one of the meanings of the English word raspberry: in slang it is a sign of contempt. Anti-prize winners are traditionally presented with a plastic raspberry covered in gold paint. The prize is worth less than five dollars.
