Shooter in Pittsburgh synagogue refused to admit guilt

46-year-old Robert Bowers, who is accused of killing an 11 man in a synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pa., 1 November said in court that he did not admit his guilt.

When the judge asked whether he understood the charges against him, Bowers answered in the affirmative, but he did not plead guilty, writes Fox 8.

The lawyer demanded that his client’s case be examined by a jury.

Bowers entered the courtroom with shackles on his wrists, waist and ankles. His left shoulder is bandaged - he suffered several gunshot wounds during a shootout with police at the synagogue and was released from the hospital three days ago.

Against the shooter, charges were filed on 44 counts. During the indictment, Bowers watched the prosecutors and occasionally nodded, noting that he understood the charges against him, while his lawyer stressed that the defendant did not admit his guilt.

Of the 44 charges, 32 provides for the death penalty. Bowers are held in a Butler County jail without the right to bail.
