FBI scandal: people were reported to journalists to monitor them

Employees of the FBI secretly transmitted confidential information to the American media in order to obtain authorization to establish surveillance of the necessary investigations on the basis of publications. This was announced with reference to its own source television channel Fox News.

Legislators' questions specifically focused on how the FBI justified its request for spying on 2016 for the former adviser to the campaign headquarters of current US President Carter Page. The committees suspect that for the sake of this, individual bureau employees did not disdain to make a conscious leak of information to the press in order to use publications as a justification for obtaining a warrant for surveillance.

According to the TV channel, Moffa first spoke evasively, however, when congressmen populated him, he acknowledged that this practice in the FBI was in the past. It was specifically about the year 2016, when the bureau was headed by James Komi and his deputy Andrew McCabe. Information leaks affected the so-called dossier with information compromising US President Donald Trump, the channel explained.

US Justice Minister Jeff Sessions in March fired FBI deputy head McCabe, who was actively involved in investigations into Hillary Clinton and the presidential election. According to the minister, the FBI's core unit reviewed a report on allegations of McCabe’s misconduct and suggested dismissing him.

Strzhok worked at the FBI for counterintelligence issues, and also worked on the team of Special Prosecutor Robert Muller, leading an investigation into relations with the Russian Federation attributed to President Trump. He also participated in the proceedings in connection with the use of ex-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's personal mail server for official correspondence.

Earlier, the media leaked email correspondence between Strzok and his colleague, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he had a romantic relationship. In letters dating back to 2016, Strzok asserted that Trump "will not become" president, while also declaring his intention to "stop it."
