Americans vs. immigrants: Uzbek woman makes funny videos about cultural differences

Lola Jadun, 36 years old, moved to the United States from Uzbekistan and works as a flight attendant for one of the largest American airlines. In addition to her successful career, she is a popular blogger. Her funny videos about the difference between the cultures and traditions of the United States and Uzbekistan have conquered the Internet, reports WE.

After graduating from the Moscow Humanitarian Institute in 2010, Lola came to the United States.

Immediately after arriving, she began looking for work.

“I went to all the restaurants, local cafes and shops, but they didn’t take me. The first thing I encountered was the language barrier. I overcame it quite quickly, as I got a job as a nanny for an American family and completely immersed myself in the local atmosphere and lifestyle,” says Lola. “I liked the simplicity of the people, the large size of the houses, the clean streets. I was proud that I decided to move.”

Cultural difference

Lola gradually began to notice the difference in mentality between Uzbeks and Americans. Her observations resulted in funny videos and a blog about life in the USA.

“We Uzbeks always dress nicely to go to a restaurant, but Americans can go anywhere in casual clothes,” she says.

“My eldest son goes to an American elementary school, and I am surprised at how relaxed the atmosphere is between teachers and students,” the woman says. - You can complete your homework at your own discretion, or you may not complete it. A large number of school events are organized. The school even has a pajama day when everyone wears pajamas, including the principal and teachers of the school.”

Lola also noticed a difference in the attitude of parents towards their children. She showed this difference between immigrant moms and American moms in a video on her page at Instagram. Guess which mothers are more caring?

Lola says that her social circle has become richer, that she has become much simpler, and has learned to smile more often: with or without a reason. And, of course, she made a video dispelling the myth of the “tight American smile.”

Funny videos about the difference in relationships between friends and the tradition of visiting received thousands of views.

“Don’t be afraid to move, try, find yourself and chase a better life,” says Lola. “I don’t know what country I will live in in the future, but so far I like everything.”
